There will just be leaders." Sheryl Sandburg
Good morning from the Royal Bank of Scotland Building in Bristol. I’m here to attend an event hosted by NatWest and ACCA to celebrate International Women’s Day. Today’s guest speaker is Alison Edgar, The Entrepreneur’s Godmother and Managing Director of Sales Coaching Solutions. Alison works with SMEs, start-ups, micros and entrepreneurs to help them grow their business through effective sales and firmly believes “it’s better to be bold than boring”. I couldn’t agree more. Super excited to listen to her and pick up some much needed tips.
I was amazed to learn that International Women’s Day has been recognised since the early 1900s, bringing together governments, women’s organisations, businesses and charities. The day is about both celebrating the success of women and highlighting their plight. The World Economic Forum reported in 2017 it could take a further 100 years before the global equality gap between men and women disappears altogether.
This year’s IWD is encouraging advocacy, activism and support for a gender parity mindset. The aim being to inspire people to continue the vocal fight for equality. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see even more successful women working within Financial Services? I have pledged my support to #PressforProgress, will you?
